Very disappointed by removal of Letters and Numbers.
I did not watch SBS for over a month when they made the decision.
I strongly felt that SBS management should have been sacked!
Do watch the reruns at 3pm but would love it to come back live.
I like Countdown as well, but I find David's explanations and remarks much more in depth,
while Lily's style is much better, in my view, than Rachel's.
Lily is more beautiful too. :)
We were not told why it was dropped.
If Lily completed her Degree and has a full time job in science,
it may no longer be possible to have her back.
I am still hoping it is possible to get the team back together
and SBS cave in to putting the show back on.
Really miss it.

Missing the programme hosted by Richard at the evening timeslot. Please bring back this challenging, entertaining and very rewarding show. I no longer watch SBS at this time. Good luck to Richard, Lily and David. Hurry back !

Letters and Numbers
Hi, I've only just found this forum for attempting to get back
the wonderful, entertaining and educational show that is Letters and Numbers.
I've always loved doing anything associated with words and figures. Puzzles, games, competions, whatever form it comes in! :-) Richard, David and Lily had a wonderful rapport with each other and also bought the contestants into the mix as well, making them feel a real part of it all.
I don't like to put people down, but i tried watching the British version, which you put on after taking Letters and Numbers off the air. I couldn't believe the difference!! There is no rapport, no bantering, not many smiles even!! It is SO robotic!! Hence my family and SO many friends of ours have taken to watching other stations or just nothing at all. Please reconsider bringing back the perfect mix of Richard, David and Lily on Letters and Numbers. It's not just for me, but could i say that i couldn't believe how many really "young" people LOVED your show, and so it's for them i plead also. :-) Thankyou for listening..... Gail :-)

Upset with SBS' axing Letters and Numbers
We learnt just today (November 2nd!) that Letters and Numbers has been axed – we only get to watch the 3 p.m. repeats, which are still running, and so did not realise the show was no longer being made.
What a pity to lose such a cultured program with a gentle and uplifting dynamic between Lily Serna, Richard Morecroft, and David Astle. This is the very kind of show that deserves to be made: a beacon above the fog of rubbish and mediocrity that abounds on television.
The three participants are an asset to Australian television. Please bring the broadcast back! ABC? Anyone?

You will lose a lot viewers . if you continue showing that second rate show replacing Richard etc.
How could anyone replace HIM.
Do not lose any more viewers, before you wake up, give it to ABC

Still no answer
Like Roger Hooton I also sent a letter to Michael Ebeid on 25 September, 3 pages long listing all the reasons L&N should be retained and why it was so much better than the British version which I simple CANNOT watch (and I have tried) but it just rubs salt into the wound and reminds me of everything we lost along with Richard, David and Lily. And yes, I enclosed an SAE... but no, I have had not even had an acknowledgement let alone a proper response. Come on SBS - aren't you even listening any more?? Here's one viewer that certainly isn't watching. Yes, I am losing heart too but keep up the pressure folks, there's a new year coming .....
I think it's a testament to how much we all loved this show that people are still writing into this site FOUR MONTHS after the program left our screens. Richard, David and Lily you are gone but no way are you forgotten. Still hoping to have you back.

SBS funded by us
SBS is partially funded by us the taxpayers so I cannot understand SBS management not listening to the many disapponted fans of Letters and Numbers. It was the best show on TV and great fun for our family. We really miss it.

Bring back letters and numbers
The switch to a lacklustre British version of this show is shameful! I hoped SBS would avoid such a cheap approach to its programming, and would certainly welcome a re-think.

Countdown a poor replacement
I have tried to watch Countdown several times now, but it is a frustratingly poor substitute for L&N. Gail Shore sums it up perfectly; lack-lustre, stilted and no personality.
A very ordinary decision S.B.S.
