Letters and Numbers
I cannot understand why SBS are discontinuing this wonderful show. It is one of the few multi-generational shows available, it is presented without gratuitous nonsense and is informative and stimulating for all. SBS...what are you doing!

The education revolution - perhaps not
Not only entertaining, but educational too. Brings families together at meal times, expands the brain and with a health dose of competition at the same time. A fantastically paced show, impressive skills and personalities with ordinary Australians striving to win - a dictionary....

What is SBS thinking - whatever it was, it didnt take long, and with the minimum amount of effort.

Unless of course, this avalanche (9letters could be a conumdrum) of public support was their aim.

Brain Food
I used to enjoy exercising my brain while sipping my pre-dinner drink, then enjoying my dinner knowing that I had gained a lot of new information that day. What else is there on TV to stimulate my 'little grey cells'?

Please bring Letters and Numbers out of retirement.

No L&N, no SBS.
I've never missed letters and numbers. It's the only good show. I'm not watching SBS anymore.

Shocked
Can't believe that SBS has done this to the best show on television. The UK version will be of no interest at all to me.

SBS management
Have noticed the total lack of manners from SBS management as they have NOT bothered to add any reply to the comments here. Perhaps they are NOT reading the comments pages.

Ciao SBS
I'd support the decision to replace L&N with a foreign import if that import were Des Chiffres et des Lettres ... at least we'd benefit from receiving a colloquial French language education! And much as I admire the wit of Gyles Brandreth, he's not going to be showing up on the SBS Countdown broadcasts for years. So SBS has permanently lost this household in the 6 to 7pm weekday timeslot.

Terrible Decision
What a shame to replace a popular, well-made Australian show with quality presenters with an import! Very disappointing and short-sighted.

SBS Lost the plot!
OK so what Nong is responsible for this decision? A sad day to see L&N replaced by the British version, probably like that Egghead game on the other side...awful. A quality Australian production obviously loved and defended by many... what was that SBS mantra again, something about sensitivity?
