Fatuous decision of SBS
What dimwit decided to axe Letters and Numbers, best show on SBS. We do not want to watch an English version. David Astle was magnificent in his wisdom and entertaining. If they want to save money, have no "stylists" for Lily and Richard. Is this the dumbing down of Australia? Plenty of people love this show. I agree with Will Moody. There is a total dearth of decent, brain stimulating programs on television. The Einstein Factor on ABC was another one that was brilliant, and axed! An addiction I had to also get over. Does SBS really think that we want the English version? Surely it's enough that the ABC is full of purchased English programs with usually no relevance to Australians, particularly the cooking ones with English ingredients. Why is Lily doing another cooking show? The girl is brilliant with maths, and one would not imagine she being comfortable with the bimbo image that is usually required in these roles. Richard Morecroft is a legend. In my view, SBS could just send Julia Zemiro to Eurovision, and have one newsreader instead of the obligatory two. This is a woeful decision by SBS; but I was suspicious when, for the past month repeats have been screened continually. How much would this show have cost? Three people. I endured the ads as I always watch the ABC. SBS is off my list now. Wrong! Stupid decision. A full monty to SBS.

Lily Serna is a talent not to be wasted
Dear SBS, please continue to run Letters and Numbers. Not only does it inspire younger generations and older ones alike, Lily's undeniable talent with numbers breathes life back into mathematics for so many people who find it a bit dry.
If you really must you could consider revamping in some way, and I mean that as A LAST RESORT because it is truly excellent the way it is. Letters and Numbers is a unique show that is unparalleled by any other station, and will be sorely missed.
Sincerely, Ashleigh.

Letters & Numbers
Letters & Numbers is the only intelligent program to watch on TV. Replacing the Australian program with one from England shows you have no idea why we all watch it. It is not just about the letters and numbers themselves, it is so refreshing to see honest, entertaining Australians on a program with Australain culture and charm. You should be aware that most of the L&N audience are discerning with what they watch, so will not just watch anything you put in front of them - I for one will just have the TV off more. I thought we funded SBS (and the ABC) partly to ensure we make some good Australian programs showing our culture. If Richard and David have left - or it is too hard to get contestants then tell us that - we do not like being treated so contemptuously. Putting Lily into a Food Show no matter what it is about is a waste of her skills and quite demeaning im my opionion. Like a lot of others this is the first time I have lodged a complaint or comment about a TV program. SBS you can do better.

Why the UK version when we have a brilliant OZ show
Switched on tonight and no show; my brain has gone numb, words fail me and I was so sure tonight I would crack the conundrum!
The web site says we will have the UK show; why when we have such a brilliant and engaging Oz team.

Bring Back L&N
Don't take this amazing show off the air. It's great brain exercise and solid bonding time for my Mother and I.
Long Live L&N!

You can't axe letters and numbers, it's a great show. I just don't understand why, when it is so awesome. Please bring it back!!!

Very disappointed
Disappointed and very much distressed about this shocking decision. This is my favourite show and it felt like being stabbed in the gut when SBS announced it was the last episode last night!

My kids, ages 3&4, watch with me all the time. Not only does this show help brush up on their alphabet and numbers, it also gets them interested in maths and spelling!

Come on SBS, you cannot underestimate the intelligence of the Australian public. In order for us to progress as a nation run by thinking individuals, you need to support REAL educational shows like Letters and Numbers that hone the intellect of the next generation!

SBS no longer numbered amongst my (call) letters
A deplorable decision when one considers the abysmal standard of shows available on 'free to air' TV these days. Letters and Numbers offered one of the few respites from all this drivel.

If SBS has cancelled L&M due to a dearth of prospective contestants...fine, that's understandable and, to me, the only logical explanation. If that is in fact the case, however, SBS should show the loyal viewers of the show the simple courtesy of some prior notice.

If the decision has been made for any other reason, then SBS execs responsible should receive letters advising that their days are numbered!
