Dumfounded
The 'resting' of Letters and Numbers is both dumbfounding and disappointing. Our entire household aged 3 to 43 love pitting our wits against each other and the contestants and marvelling at the brainpower of Lilly and David. It also often means we watch SBS news and other shows on SBS that evening - something that WONT happen if we dont have out Letter and Numbers entree. Please reconsider this decision SBS. You will lose more than just your Letters and Numbers audience otherwise.

Letters and Numbers
SBS programmers (like most TV programmers) don't understand their audiences.
Which sponsor is responsible for canning this programme?
L&N was the only SBS programme we watched regularly.

David Astle speaks
David Astle just rang ABC 774's weekly TV segment and is obviously very disappointed and hopes that "rested" really means rested. He also says the reaction from fans has been "incredible" and he hopes that will make SBS management rethink their decision. Presenter Jon Faine is outraged and the Green Guide's Debi Enker, who was with him, is "astonished" that SBS would make a programming decision to cancel a show that has such a dedicated fan base. This was all prompted by a single talkback call near the end of the segment (which was discussing The Block this week). Until then (amazingly) neither Faine nor Enker even knew about it. Enker said she didn't know till she read the Green Guide letters page today (there are three letters on L&N), but thought it might just be the end of the series, not the show. But once they found out they spent the next five to ten minutes just on L&N. Faine is scathing of SBS.

P.S. David Astle has been on Faine's Conversation Hour a number of times.

Resting
David what is the dictionary def for resting?? Surely SBS cant beleive that its smart audience beleive that cutting a show can be fed to us under the guise of resting!! Letters & Numbers has a huge appeal to all ages, races & genders please dont AXE it.

Letters and Numbers
Twice the appeal because it pleases both maths brains and word wizards. Oh, and the viewer has the chance to compete, as the comperes and contestants are locals, Aussies, with a shared history and vocab.
Please make a new series!

Letters and numbers
Love watching letters and numbers. Unlike other quiz show questions where there is only one definitive answers L & N gives you the opportunity to find a variety of words in the letters game and differing solutions in the numbers game. My hubby and I watch every evening and love the interactive nature of the show. Great exercise for the brain. Even our 9 year old daughter enjoys finding as many words as she can within the 30 seconds. Perhaps more awareness of the show may help! It was by accident that I stumbled upon it about 6mths ago. We hope you choose to keep it on. This decision should not be a conundrum! Cheers Kim

Letters and numbers cancellation
L & N is educational and fun. All three presenters are great at what they do and they gel with each other and the audience beautifully. I can't imagine that the show is costly to make and the thought of replacing it with a cheaper English made production, stinks. There is not enough Australian content on TV as it is.
It is a great show and it made it easy not to change the channel to watch the competitors' news! SBS you will be cutting your own throats and lose valuable customers for the sake of a couple of thousand dollars a week.

Awesome L&N
Let the hosts have a rest for a while, then please bring it back. School students enjoy the show and learn awesome math skills at the same time.
